The Boomer Blog, Issue #1

The Boomer Blog, Issue #1

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, we too, have been reborn.

In March 2024, Boomerang Kids Wellington West changed ownership, and we spent the first 8 months researching, watching and learning ways to improve the business - not just things like our profits, but our relationship with our customers, too.

Since then, we've changed a lot.

We first spent a long time researching clothing prices, to make sure we were being fair not only to our customers, but to our consignors, too. We've reduced our stock, and gotten pickier about our acceptance policy. Since we're charging more than we used to, we want to bring you a good selection of high quality items, not a giant pile of average ones.

At the beginning of 2025, we closed shop for three weeks to renovate. We put up lots of new clothing racks, rearranged everything and opened a large community space in the back of the store. We wanted to make things more open, and easier to navigate. We also wanted to focus on our customers and community.

We want to improve our communications, for starters. We realized there was a lot of information that should be easily accessible, and isn't. Our website was the biggest culprit. It was cluttered, with little (and very outdated) information. While rebuilding it, I realized something else: our staff are so personable and friendly, and our customers like to know who's serving them! Since there are so few of us, it becomes kind of easy to get to know us, when you come to visit.

But... the other thing I noticed was how little of our personalities were reflected online. The tone of our website was too corporate, our social media posts were kind of generic. So, we've decided to change our online tone, too. We want to be more personable, just like we are in store.

Which brings me to my introduction: My name is Kaedyn! I manage the Boomerang Kids in Wellington. I've been the primary hand behind the new website and a handful of the changes made in the past year. My main focus has been our customers. I want to widen the communication channels between us, have more things for people to do, get people more involved, and generally improve our community and its connections. Part of this change includes the monthly newsletter, and this blog!

This blog is going to be managed by the whole staff. We're going to blog about anything we think is helpful, interesting, or otherwise related to the store. We'll talk about taking care of clothing, fashion trends, local up-and-comings to keep your eyes on, and more! In addition to learning interesting facts, or different ways to style a scarf, you'll learn about us, too. Our personalities will shine through, and you'll get to know the people serving you. We're hoping this will help you feel even more welcome when you come to visit!

Thank you so much for your patience while we've been trying to sort ourselves out. This past year has been hectic, to say the least. We've hit some road bumps along the way, but we're still chugging along! I really do hope you like the new website, and I hope you enjoy the blog, too! Stay tuned for more posts, coming soon.

Thanks for reading, folks. Stay safe, stay bright, and above all, take care of each other.

Finally some change and in the right direction. Was not a fan of the last ownership and management. Congratulations and the neighbourhood welcomes you.

I love how the new website looks! And seeing the store improve over the months has been awesome :)
