Consignment FAQs
What is 'consignment'?
Consignment is the process in which a business, the consignee- that's us - are given items to sell on the behalf of a client, the consignor- that's (hopefully) you!
Why should I consign with you?
Consignment with us means not only freeing space in your own home, but it also means you're helping to protect our environment, giving back to our community, and (best of all!) making a few dollars along the way.
How much money would I make, and do I get it right away?
You'll make money as the items sell, collecting 40% of the profit. We price our items at about 50% of regular market price, so you would receive around 20% of what you originally spent. Keep in mind, your balance will expire after 6 months of inactivity.
Do you take furniture?
Generally, no, not unless it's small. Unfortunately, our customers are rarely in the market for large items, especially furniture, so they don't sell very well. We do usually take children's chairs, and occasionally small craft tables, assuming they're in good shape. It's always a good idea to call ahead if you're not sure.
What do you take/carry?
Clothes, shoes, toys, books, art supplies, puzzles, games, baby equipment! We take clothing of nearly all sizes, from Preemie to Adult Small, and maternity wear of all sizes. Toys, games, puzzles and kits must be working and have all the pieces; everything must be clean and in good condition.
Is there anything you never take?
A few things! The only downside to second hand items is we do need to be cautious of anything that could raise safety or hygiene concerns. We don't take bedding, pillows, stuffed toys, undergarments, bicycle helmets, or car seats. We will also automatically reject anything that's been recalled, or baby equipment that's more than 5 years old.
What do you do with the rejected items?
Anything we can't take gets donated, with your consent, to one of a few different places. Mostly, we donate clothes to St. Jude's Church (who distribute the clothes overseas), and we donate toys Mothercraft. Occasionally, we also donate to community centers, public schools, and, in a few cases, even other local businesses, if we feel they could get better use out of the product.
