Consignment: Process
So you want to drop items off...
First of all, thank you for partnering with us! Our process is pretty simple, no appointment necessary. Any time we're open, you can bring items to us, in a sealed bag or box. We have a limit on the number of items we accept, subject to change at any time. Please check the banner at the top of the webpage, the signs in store, or contact us any time, for our limits. We also accept items seasonally, approximately 2-3 months ahead of whatever season we're currently in. For example, in January, we accept spring items; April, we accept summer; July, we accept fall; and in October, we accept winter items. The detailed specifics may change month to month; but we have a handy guide you can check to make sure your items match what we're taking.
You'll also want to make sure your items are clean and undamaged. Clothing must be washed, free of stains, and not too pilly. Clothing must have both a size and a brand - please refer to this list for brands we don't accept - printed somewhere on the clothing. This is important, as we cannot price items fairly if they aren't branded.
Toys must also be clean, must have all the pieces and must in working order - but, no batteries necessary! We test them when we price them, using our own batteries. In order to keep toys lasting longer, we will remove any batteries left in the devices. Baby equipment is handled the same way.
If there are items we can't accept, we donate them to various non-profits (clothing to St. Jude's, and toys to Mothercraft, for example). If you don't want us to donate your items, we just ask you stay in the store long enough for us to sort your items.
Once your items have been priced, they'll stay on the racks for 2 months, and if they sell during that time, you will get 40% of the profit. The money will go into your account, and remain there for 6 months. If you do not collect in 6 months, your balance expires, and the money is forfeit to Boomerang Kids.

Consignment FAQs
What is 'consignment'?
Consignment is the process in which a business, the consignee- that's us - are given items to sell on the behalf of a client, the consignor- that's (hopefully) you!
Why should I consign with you?
Consignment with us means not only freeing space in your own home, but it also means you're helping to protect our environment, giving back to our community, and (best of all!) making a few dollars along the way.
How much money would I make, and do I get it right away?
You'll make money as the items sell, collecting 40% of the profit. We price our items at about 50% of regular market price, so you would receive around 20% of what you originally spent. Keep in mind, your balance will expire after 6 months of inactivity.
Do you take furniture?
Generally, no, not unless it's small. Unfortunately, our customers are rarely in the market for large items, especially furniture, so they don't sell very well. We do usually take children's chairs, and occasionally small craft tables, assuming they're in good shape. It's always a good idea to call ahead if you're not sure.
What do you take/carry?
Clothes, shoes, toys, books, art supplies, puzzles, games, baby equipment! We take clothing of nearly all sizes, from Preemie to Adult Small, and maternity wear of all sizes. Toys, games, puzzles and kits must be working and have all the pieces; everything must be clean and in good condition.
Is there anything you never take?
A few things! The only downside to second hand items is we do need to be cautious of anything that could raise safety or hygiene concerns. We don't take bedding, pillows, stuffed toys, undergarments, bicycle helmets, or car seats. We will also automatically reject anything that's been recalled, or baby equipment that's more than 5 years old.
What do you do with the rejected items?
Anything we can't take gets donated, with your consent, to one of a few different places. Mostly, we donate clothes to St. Jude's Church (who distribute the clothes overseas), and we donate toys Mothercraft. Occasionally, we also donate to community centers, public schools, and, in a few cases, even other local businesses, if we feel they could get better use out of the product.
